Mandić issued a permit for a monument with a tank, and now cowardly remains silent

(Patria) - The installation of a monument with a tank in the park near the Second Gymnasium has caused divided opinions in the public. While a significant part of the public supports the veterans of the Special Unit, who insisted on this form of monument, another part of the public is protesting.

What is surprising is the silence of the Mayor of Centar Municipality, Srđan Mandić, who issued the building permit for this monument.



Upon seeing the public's anger, Mandić cowardly avoided taking responsibility, even though he boasted at the time about participating in the project.

"Vikić's special forces will finally get a monument. I have just signed the building permit for the construction of the monument to the Bosnian Special Forces, a project we are doing in cooperation with the veterans of this glorious unit and the City of Sarajevo. Another decades-long injustice has been corrected. For my Špica, for all our heroes. We love you and think of you," Mandić wrote at the end of September last year.

At the same time, one of the members of the Special Unit, Muhamed Gafić, wrote: "After six years of struggle, the building permit has been signed. This is huge for us." Gafić thanked Mandić specifically at the time.

When it was time to gain political points, the Mayor of Centar was in the spotlight. However, when the monument was finally erected and the first negative reactions occurred, Mandić simply disappeared. For days, he has not written a single word, nor has he made any other statement about the monument, through which he promoted himself.

The mayor, who issued the building permit and fully supported its construction with the aforementioned words, should stand in defense of his decision. Instead, he conformistically flees from responsibility, thereby showing complete spinelessness, lack of courage, and leadership.
