Mamići offered 7 million kuna bail in cash

The non-trial panel of the Zagreb County Court will decide next week on appeals against the pre-trial detention of recently arrested Dinamo officials, brothers Zdravko and Zoran Mamić, and executive director of the Croatian Football Federation Damir Vrbanović, whose lawyers have requested the court to allow them to defend themselves from freedom in exchange for cash bail, reports the Patria News Agency.

The fourth defendant, tax official Milan Pernar, who was the first to end up in pre-trial detention, did not appeal, unofficially because USKOK proposed the smallest number of witnesses in his case.

The lawyers of the three suspects who appealed against pre-trial detention have again offered bail to the court, as a guarantee that their clients will not obstruct the investigation or repeat the offense while at liberty, which is why USKOK requested they be imprisoned during the investigation.

A bail of five million kuna was offered for Zdravko Mamić, two million for his brother Zoran, and 500,000 kuna in cash for Vrbanović. Therefore, it is not excluded that the non-trial panel, which will decide on the appeals of investigative judge Erna Dražančić, will propose that she consider the possibility of release on bail and additional precautionary measures.

The Mamići had previously offered Zoran Mamić's house, worth around 20 million kuna, as bail, but the investigative judge did not accept it, likely due to the 'encumbrances' registered on it.

Vrbanović had not offered bail until now, but a change in defense strategy occurred after he revoked the power of attorney of lawyer Darko Maržić and hired Mato Matić, who in some earlier cases was also part of Zdravko Mamić's legal team, writes Index.
