Mamić allowed in Maksimir after all, but cannot perform functions at Dinamo

Zdravko Mamić is not allowed to perform the duty of executive president of Dinamo until the conclusion of the criminal proceedings initiated against him by USKOK on suspicion of extracting approximately 150 million kuna to a series of offshore companies around the world, reports Croatian Jutarnji, as carried by the Patria news agency.

This was decided by the panel of the Zagreb County Court, which rejected Mamić's appeal against the decision of investigating judge Erna Draženčić, who had made an identical decision a month earlier. The difference is that this decision is final, and Mamić can possibly try to overturn it at the Constitutional Court.

With the same decision, the panel confirmed the earlier decision of Judge Draženčić to reject USKOK's proposal that Mamić should be banned from approaching Maksimir, i.e., banned from performing any work related to Dinamo, including the advisory work he currently does. The Zagreb County Court in December last year, when it released Mamić on bail of two million euros, also decided to impose this measure banning him from performing duties. Shortly after the measure was imposed, Mamić himself resigned from the top position at the club, announcing this at an extraordinary press conference.

- I am doing this so that Dinamo, to which I have sworn allegiance, can move unhindered into the future and so that Zdravko Mamić is not at the helm, so that people do not abuse it, Mamić told reporters at the time.

However, a month ago, he asked the court to lift the ban measure because it was no longer necessary since he had resigned. USKOK investigators responded to Mamić's proposal with a counter-proposal in which they requested that the ban measure not only remain in force but also be extended to any other activity related to the club, i.e., that Mamić be banned from approaching the club premises. The court rejected both proposals, and Mamić and USKOK had the right to appeal the investigating judge's decision. As Jutarnji unofficially learns, the panel explained the reasons for rejecting Mamić's proposal by stating that the resignation Mamić submitted was a consequence of the measure imposed by the court and that this measure should remain in force, reports Jutarnji.
