Majkić spent one day in retirement and received a severance payment of 28,000 KM!

Towards the end of last year, data was published showing that in the entire Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina during the previous year, the highest earner was SNSD representative Dušanka Majkić, otherwise known for her fierce criticism of idleness and negligence in state institutions of BiH, reports the Patria news agency.

During the past year, Majkić received an average of around 7,300 KM per month, which is nine average salaries in the country or approximately 25 average pensions in the country!

But this is more or less known to everyone, as the media in recent years have extensively reported and warned about the countless privileges of BiH parliamentarians.

However, there is another "set of privileges" for BiH parliamentarians that the public knows less about, as it is used by only a small group of representatives who, during their term, meet the conditions for regular retirement.

The parliamentarians also took care of this, so in the Law on Salaries and Allowances in BiH Institutions, they specified that representatives who meet the conditions for retirement are paid a one-time "assistance" in the amount of six of their salaries!

Thus, on May 25 this year, representative Dušanka Majkić was issued a decision on "termination of the status of a permanently employed deputy due to retirement by force of law."

By another decision on the same day, she was granted a one-time "assistance" in the amount of about 28,000 KM, which corresponds to the amount of her six salaries that year.

However, just two days later, on May 27 this year, Dušanka Majkić received another decision - this time on "acquiring the status of a permanently employed deputy," meaning she spent only two days in retirement, just long enough to meet the formal conditions for the payment of a severance package of about 28,000 KM.

With the new decision of May 27, Dušanka Majkić was assigned a salary coefficient of 8.50 with an additional 0.50 percent on the base salary for each year of work experience. At that moment, Majkić had exactly 40 years and one day of work experience!

The entire maneuver of going into retirement was calculated with the clear goal of collecting a severance payment of 28,000 KM, because Majkić had renewed her mandate in the parliamentary elections six months before her one-day retirement and met the formal conditions for the status of a professional representative, with all the privileges that this status entails, writes Slobodna Bosna.
