Mother and baby die due to drunk doctors

Two anesthesiologists from the Macedonian city of Gevgelija were fired four days after a mother (32) and her baby died in that hospital, reports the Patria News Agency.

The doctors performed the delivery by Cesarean section, and the investigation showed that they were drunk during the operation, writes Alo.

Due to this and another case of a mother's death, the left-wing movement Solidarity organized protests in front of the Macedonian government headquarters in Skopje on Monday. They claim that there are more and more unfortunate cases ending in death in the local hospitals.

They also hold the authorities responsible because citizens receive poor services in healthcare institutions due to poorly implemented reforms in the health sector and employment along party lines.

The demonstrators also demanded that the Minister of Health take responsibility and resign..
