Mahmutović: State, don't save money, we will continue begging and pleading for help!

Despite all the problems facing the Basketball Federation of BiH, primarily financial ones, our cadet national team has achieved a historic success by advancing to the semifinals of the Eurobasket in Lithuania with a victory over Germany 70:54, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

An emotional message on his Facebook profile was left by Harun Mahmutović, the general secretary of the Basketball Federation of BiH, who a few days ago spoke with tears in his eyes about the problems of the Federation.

He first commented that he was happy and proud because BiH managed to qualify directly for the World Championship. However, harsh reality soon interrupted his joy.

He addressed officials with a clear message.

- State, don't worry, you don't have to save money, we athletes don't need it! What matters is that you have it because you need it more! And we will continue begging and pleading for help... we are used to you making beggars out of us! But we won't give up our honor and pride! We proudly represent our country!

We remind you that during the European Championship for juniors, our selection did not have paid registration fees and other expenses. At the last moment, sponsors, primarily the company Bosnalijek, saved face.

Although there were promises of help from certain levels of government, the situation has not been clarified to this day.
