Maglaj Library to Open its Doors to Users Mid-August

Two months after the floods devastated Maglaj, the staff of the General Library are still dealing with the aftermath, but as Nina Salkić, the library director, said, the doors for users could be opened as early as mid-August, writes the BH news agency Patria (NAP).

- The installation of floor coverings is nearing completion, and we have received furniture from the company FIS Vitez. Things are improving, but we still need money the most. We have to pay for all the work, but you can't do anything without money. We are very pleased with the book collection drives – Salkić said.

She stated that the number of collected and delivered books already exceeds 10,000, and they expect a donation after the end of the Third Ramadan Book Festival, which lasts until July 26. The gallery „Boris Smoje“ has collected about 1,000 books for the children's department.

- The company Bekto Precisa from Goražde has also joined the initiative by purchasing a certain number of books from publishers, and they will be delivered to us after the festival along with other collected books. We must not forget that the General Library's collection was built over 56 years, and it was destroyed in just a few hours – Salkić told NAP.

We remind you that the General Library in Maglaj lost 70% of its collection during the floods, which is about 28,000 books. Incidentally, this is the only library in the Municipality of Maglaj.
