Maglaj native in Qatar jersey: On Sunday we will bring down France, we're going for gold!

When we qualified for the World Handball Championship last year, no one in our team could have known that we would play in the final of a major competition. But it was our dream that we all secretly dreamed, and which, lo and behold, has come true – says Eldar Memišević, a Bosnian in the Qatar jersey, in an exclusive interview for the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

From the very beginning of the major handball tournament in Qatar, Memišević has been in the forefront for coach Valero Rivera, but he himself admitted a few months ago in an interview for Patria that both the coach and the players would be satisfied if they placed among the top six teams at the World Championship. However, their plans are now completely different. By eliminating the Poles on Friday evening, they secured a place in the final, which they will play against the mighty France. 

- We are going for gold. We have shown that we have the strength. We will give our all to defeat the French on Sunday – says Memišević.

He does not hide that he also followed the Dragons' games in Qatar with great passion. He would, he says, be happy if they had achieved a better result, but he believes that the Bosnian handball players have shown that they can certainly be counted on in future major competitions as well.

- If they had just a little more experience, but also luck, they would surely have gone far. Our country has a good handball team, I am sure we will continue to see them at major competitions – says Memišević, writes NAP.
