Magazinović wrote to Tegeltija about vaccines: People are angry and feel betrayed!

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Saša Magazinović, a delegate in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, sent an open letter to the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Zoran Tegeltija.

"Dear Mr. Tegeltija, on January 21, together with two entity prime ministers, you promised to start direct procurement of vaccines from manufacturers. At that time, you knew, as you do today, that our laws do not allow this and that vaccines can only be purchased through intermediaries, who of course take a profit. You knew then, yet you made a promise. You have done nothing to change this, although you know that direct procurement requires amending the Law on Public Procurement and the Law on Medicines and Medical Devices. This work can be completed in one day of sessions of the state Parliament's houses, and your associates need no more than a few hours to prepare the amendments. I believe you are obliged to explain to the public why you have not done this and why you are not doing it!

Mr. Tegeltija, you have experience with the judiciary, so you surely know that a criminal offense can also occur when you fail to do something you could have done to prevent a consequence. In the case of a pandemic, the consequences are fatal for many. I believe you do not want families of the sick or deceased to come to the Council of Ministers building to ask you why vaccines were not procured while mass immunization is underway everywhere in the region.

I do not know if you are aware that your inaction can cause various consequences, primarily for people's health, but not only that. Instead of serving all levels of government for joint procurement at 'factory prices,' you (un)knowingly favor intermediaries by pressuring everyone to fend for themselves on the market. Do you understand that it is possible for someone, even with the best intentions, to be blamed for damaging the budget through such purchases, buying vaccines of 'suspicious' origin, violating some law...

I really do not understand your passivity and such courage to take responsibility upon yourself. Let us set aside for now that you were not informed about the pandemic or vaccines just yesterday, please urgently change the laws, negotiate with manufacturers, protect budget funds, be a service to all levels of government, or explain to us what your agenda is. What you are (not) doing is dangerous for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. I hope you understand!
