Magazinović: We are not happy, but we were right about fuel price hikes, and there is no road construction either

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Saša Magazinović, a deputy in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, sent a question to the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Denis Zvizdić, and the entire Council of Ministers about what will be done regarding the enormous price increases of oil and oil derivatives, and within what timeframe they intend to implement any planned activities.

- We are credible to speak about the rampant rise in fuel prices because we warned in time what would happen. At that time, both we and the citizens who opposed the price increases were accused and labeled. Today, we do not label them from the excise coalition, but ask what they are doing and what they will do to prevent this chaos – said Magazinović.

He adds that he feels no satisfaction in having been right when they opposed the adoption of amendments to the Excise Law, warning about what is happening now, the rampant rise in fuel prices and the chain increase in prices of goods and services.

- We also said that the expansion of road construction, which was an argument for passing this law, would not happen. Unfortunately, we are witnessing that we were right about that as well – emphasizes Magazinović.

The SDP deputy recalls that Zvizdić claimed that the opposition's stories about a wave of price increases were aimed at confusing and frightening citizens, in order to preemptively nullify the positive effects that would follow the launch of highway and road construction projects throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bakir Izetbegović, promised that there would be no significant price increases for consumer goods, but that they would remain within the assumed inflation rate for 2018 – reminded Magazinović.
He added that citizens and parliamentarians deserve an answer to the question of whether there is any plan, whether there is cooperation with entity governments on this issue, and whether any state intervention can be expected to save the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the wave of price increases that are now more than obvious.
