Magazinović: Who and why is blocking oversight of OSA and the work of the Security and Defense Committee?

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Information that has appeared in the media about the involvement of foreign diplomats in activities related to espionage and terrorism is deeply disturbing and must be urgently verified and processed appropriately by Bosnian-Herzegovinian institutions, said the President of the Main Board of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) of BiH and the Chairman of the party's caucus in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament, Saša Magazinović, regarding the latest affair where it is stated that the sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been violated by the actions of foreign state intelligence structures.

"This is an opportunity to remind the public that the Joint Committee on Defense and Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Joint Committee for Oversight of the Intelligence-Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as other parliamentary committees, have not yet been formed, and parliamentary oversight in these areas is completely blocked and prevented. There is no rational reason not to proceed urgently with filling these committees so that they can discuss numerous topics related to citizens' security, including allegations of recruitment of BiH citizens by foreign services," said Magazinović.

"Since a new secretary was appointed at the session of the House of Peoples, the question arises why that appointment is possible, but it is not possible to complete the constitution of the committees in the BiH Parliament, including those whose jurisdiction is the issue of security," adds Magazinović.

He also notes that the public has the right to know who and why is blocking parliamentary oversight of OSA and the work of the defense and security committee.
