Magazinović presented a proposal and caused a strong reaction from SNSD: The Chief Negotiator and two deputies should be appointed by the House of Representatives

(Patria) - At today's regular session of the House of Representatives of the BiH PA, Saša Magazinović presented a proposal on behalf of seven clubs and eight parliamentary parties to supplement the agenda.

He proposed that the Decision on the formation of the Office and the procedure for appointing the Chief Negotiator and Deputy Chief Negotiator for conducting negotiations for accession to the European Union be included in the agenda.

The proposal was agreed upon by SDP, NIP, Our Party, PDP, SDS, Justice and Order List, and the Mixed Club.

“There is no law that defines the appointment of the chief negotiator. There is no act that says who should do it in which procedure. Parliament is the highest legislative body that also elects members of the Council of Ministers. Representatives of citizens directly elected in elections sit in Parliament. And if we say that the story about the EU belongs to everyone, that there is no government and opposition there, and that it should be a point of contact, where do we have that if not in Parliament,” said Magazinović.

The decision specifies that the House of Representatives of the BiH PA appoints the chief negotiator and deputies, and that candidates for the chief negotiator and deputies are proposed by the caucuses of representatives in the House of Representatives of the BiH PA.

The scope of work is also prescribed, that the mandate of the negotiator and two deputies is five years, and that this mandate can be renewed once. The Council of Ministers of BiH is given the mandate in terms of establishing the office, systematization, etc.

Deputies from SNSD responded to Magazinović. Milorad Kojić said that it would be serious if they had provided the material to the deputies earlier and if it was seen whether there was a legal and constitutional basis to put it on the agenda.

Sanja Vulić recalled some earlier appointments, as in the case of the Stabilization and Association Agreement, and said that the chief negotiator would be appointed by the Council of Ministers of BiH.

Representative Jasmin Emrić is of the opinion that the decision on appointing the chief negotiator must be made within Parliament, and not be an agreement of leaders at some meeting.

"We have moved away from the European path precisely because conceited leaders are charting the European path," said Emrić.

Predrag Kožul from HDZ said that this is a serious item for which they do not yet have material, so he requested a break.

The session will continue at 4 PM.

This proposal from the seven clubs came after the news was published yesterday that Ana Trišić Babić, advisor to Milorad Dodik, would be proposed as the chief negotiator.

The Trojka (Three) coalition said that this is not acceptable and that HDZ did not inform them of the intentions of the Chairperson Borjana Krišto.
