Magazinović: Civil society to be included in reform processes

MP in the House of Representatives of PSBiH and international secretary of SDP BiH Saša Magazinović is on a two-day visit to Brussels at the invitation of the Social Democratic group in the European Parliament, reports the Patria News Agency.

As part of the visit, Magazinović also participated in a regular meeting of social democrats and representatives of civil society from the Western Balkan region with the leadership of the Party of European Socialists and the parliamentary group in the European Parliament. This gathering confirmed the clear commitment of European social democrats to further strengthen their political presence in the region. This is also supported by the fact that the next major regional meeting is planned in less than a month.

European social democrats believe that the key to the region's stability lies in the stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that Brussels' approach to BiH must be with full understanding of the situation and relations within the country. The discussion emphasized that the coordination mechanism must in no way be a prelude to new attempts at ethnic and territorial divisions, and that civil society and the public must be included in the reform processes.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Magazinović had meetings with PES leaders and European MPs engaged in issues related to the Western Balkans, such as PES President Sergei Stanishev, President of the Social Democratic group in the EP Gianni Pittella, European MPs Tanja Fajon, Knut Fleckenstein, Afzal Khan, and others, with whom concrete joint activities and support were discussed.
