PARIS, (Patria) – French President Emmanuel Macron will hold a press conference on Monday evening to address the nation, the presidential cabinet reported.
The president is expected to present measures that France will take in response to the Yellow Vests (Gilets Jaunes) movement, which are the result of Macron's three-month national debate aimed at gaining better insight into citizens' problems.
The Yellow Vests have protested every Saturday for the past 22 weeks. The initial protests against the fuel tax increase in November last year grew into a social movement demanding fairer decisions in fiscal policy and social equality in the country.
The president addressed the public via Twitter, stating that it was decided to turn anger into solutions. 'We have been listening for months, tomorrow we will respond,' Macron announced.
He announced to the media a 'new chapter' and 'big changes', AP reported.
The press conference will begin tonight at 20:00 at the Elysee Palace.
