Lukač sentenced to prison for slapping Stanivuković

(Patria) - In a second-instance verdict, the District Court in Banja Luka sentenced former RS Interior Minister Dragan Lukač to three months in prison for inflicting bodily harm on then-NSRS deputy, now Banja Luka mayor, Draško Stanivuković.

This was confirmed by the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Banja Luka, which stated that the verdict was reached after the Prosecutor's Office appealed the first-instance verdict, in which Lukač was sentenced to a fine, as reported by Nezavisne novine.

"By the verdict of the Basic Court in Banja Luka of March 17 this year, the accused Dragan Lukač was found guilty of the criminal offense of bodily harm, for which he was sentenced to a fine of 300 KM, and was acquitted of the charge of endangering security.

The District Public Prosecutor's Office in Banja Luka filed an appeal against the said verdict, which was upheld by the District Court in Banja Luka," the aforementioned prosecutor's office stated.

After that, the District Court, as they point out, amended the verdict of the Basic Court regarding the sentence, and the fine was replaced with a prison sentence of three months, while confirming the rest of the verdict of the Basic Court in Banja Luka.

Recall, according to the indictment, the Banja Luka District Prosecutor's Office charged Lukač with attacking Stanivuković on December 23, 2019, around 10 p.m. during a special session of the NSRS, the course of which was broadcast live by RTRS-Plus and BN TV.

Lukač then insulted Stanivuković, after which he slapped him, and according to the Criminal Code of the RS, Lukač faced a maximum sentence of two years in prison.

The Banja Luka Basic Court confirmed the indictment in May 2021, while in March of this year it sentenced Lukač to a fine of 300 marks.
