SARAJEVO, (Patria) - German airline Lufthansa plans to cut another ten thousand jobs as part of cost-cutting measures due to a prolonged drop in revenue caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Lufthansa plans to cut permanent jobs in Germany.
Lufthansa's Chief Financial Officer, Remco Steenbergen, said they want to achieve this through voluntary redundancies or reduced working hours.
“We are preparing for layoffs,” Steenbergen said.
He added that these measures could be implemented early next year.
Lufthansa has already cut around 24,000 permanent jobs worldwide. The company is trying to overcome the crisis by reducing its workforce by 19 percent and halving its operating costs in the first quarter.
