Lovrenović: Bobovac is exclusively the capital of the Bosnian Kingdom

The rewriting of the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and within that framework the history of medieval Bosnia, gained new momentum with the breakup of Yugoslavia and has continued to this day.

The devastating consequences of this obscure discipline are already being felt by generations of young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are completely disoriented and without any positive attitude towards their state and homeland.

This was stated by Bosnian-Herzegovinian historian Dubravko Lovrenović, after on Saturday, October 24, at Bobovac, during the commemoration of the day when the penultimate Bosnian queen Katarina died, Cardinal Vinko Puljić said “that we have gathered in the Croatian royal city of Bobovac to pray for the homeland and for all the peoples living in it.”

- The tripartite ethno-confessional division of Bosnia and Herzegovina is accompanied by a tripartite ethno-nationalist mythomania and an effort to establish one's own roots in the farthest possible historical „antiquity“. In this context, Cardinal Puljić's statement about „Croatian Bobovac“ is possible, even though Bobovac, as the capital of the Bosnian Kingdom and the place where the Bosnian crown was kept, never was that. Whether this is a result of misinformation or ill intent in this case is not crucial – believes Professor Lovrenović.

He adds that what is crucial is that this and similar rewritings of the history of medieval Bosnia are incompatible with the cardinal's proclaimed intention to pray at Bobovac for „the homeland and for all the peoples living in it“.

- One cannot (sincerely) „pray“ in the atmosphere of the Croatization of Bosnian Bobovac. Indeed – the cardinal did not specify what he means by the term „homeland“ – Croatia or Bosnia and Herzegovina?" – concluded Lovrenović, as reported by Patria.
