Poor election results: Igor Kamočaji resigns as president of the SDP BiH Cantonal Committee

At the session of the Presidency of the Cantonal Committee of the SDP KS, Igor Kamočaji resigned from the position of president of the Cantonal Committee of the SDP. In addition to him, Kenan Rešo, Elvis Hadžić, vice-presidents of the SDP BiH Cantonal Committee, and secretary Predrag Puharić also submitted their resignations, Hadžić confirmed for the Patria agency.

He stated that the resignations were submitted in accordance with the conclusions of the Main Board of the SDP BiH, which emphasized that due to the poorer results achieved in the local elections, they should make their mandates available. 

In the recent local elections, Kamočaji was the SDP BiH candidate for mayor of the Centar municipality, but for the first time in this municipality, the SDA candidate Nedžad Ajnadžić won. Kamočaji won 3,598 votes, and the SDP BiH has 4 councilors in the Centar Municipal Council. 

Kamočaji's resignation was expected due to the poorer result of the SDP BiH in the Sarajevo Canton. The SDP BiH did not win any mayoral position in the municipalities of the Sarajevo Canton, and in almost all Municipal Councils, the SDA-SBB coalition, along with some other parties or independent candidates, will have a majority. 

Until the election of a new president of the SDP BiH Cantonal Committee, Emir Zlatar will serve as acting president.
