I have no personal reason to defend Džemal Šabić. On the contrary, I have a hundred reasons to be against him and the infamous FTV Management Board.
But the attack on FTV, led by the Sarajevo branch of HDZ BiH, officially named Naša stranka, cannot turn me or anyone who cares about this country against Federal Television. On the contrary.
In my hometown, everyone knows who Mirsad Čamdžić, known as Čamac, is. His “Love Carousel,” a late-night show on Radio Gračanica where he connected lonely pensioners’ hearts, was so popular that it was featured in the late Nisvet Džanko’s Positive Geography. And Čamac would have been worthy of all respect if he had continued connecting “lonely hearts.”
But he didn't. He decided to enter politics, where the numerous intra-party love carousels made his head spin so much that he is unable to realize that Federal Television, with all its flaws, is the only part of the public RTV system of BiH that Dragan Čović and Milorad Dodik have not yet conquered.
Čamac's understanding of politics is demonstrated by his statement that the opposition is blocking the work of the House of Representatives of the Federation of BiH Election and Appointment Committee due to appointments at FTV, not because of Marin Vukoja, whom Trojka, together with HDZ, intends to appoint as a judge of the Constitutional Court of BiH.
Even if Čamac were right, which he is not, there would be nothing wrong with the opposition blocking the election of new FTV leadership through the Election and Appointment Committee. Do you know why? Because Trojka and HDZ intend to appoint an HDZ cadre to the position of FTV Program Director, instead of Zvonimir Jukić, following the example of Zoran Krešić from Večernji list.
And then we would get a program similar to BHRT's, controlled by the “Good, Bad, Ugly” Mario Vrankić, where it is “legitimate” to call the Army of RBiH the so-called army, and even more legitimate to mark the anniversary of the founding of the Croatian Community of Herceg-Bosna.
I know that the duty police officer Dragan Mioković, who, logically, has misunderstood everything, cannot grasp this. On the other hand, the situation around FTV is perfectly understood by the stand-up comedian Damir Nikšić, who, if he were a woman, would be named Rabija Šubić today.
The appointment of Marin Vukoja to the Constitutional Court of BiH must be prevented at all costs. Just as the appointment of the TroHDZ leadership to FTV must be prevented. Džemal Šabić is out of mandate. That's right. HDZ's Matan Žarić in Elektroprijenos BiH has also been out of mandate for a long time.
But this is not noticed by the Sarajevo branch of HDZ, whose main media strategist is a former journalist, and now the Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Refugees, Duška Jurišić. Imagine, Duška Jurišić calls for solving problems in public services, while at the same time being in power at the level of Sarajevo Canton, the Federation of BiH, and BiH.
Who should solve problems in public services if not the government? Or is the problem of financing BRHT actually just a path to taking over the 7:30 PM news.
FTV is everything but not an SDA television. The editor of the Information Program, for example, is Željko Tica. His wife, Jasenka Tica, a frozen (radio) employee of FTV, is an advisor for media to the federal Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić.
Aleksandar Marković, an editor from FTV, is the head of Deputy Minister Duška Jurišić's office. Trojka clearly has more influence on FTV's program and journalists than opposition parties. So, what is the problem then?
The problem is that HDZ BiH has no influence whatsoever at FTV. And that is what Trojka wants to change. For the first time since its founding, by replacing Džemal Šabić and Zvonimir Jukić, they want to install HDZ cadres in the FTV leadership. And let's remember that it was precisely at the insistence of HDZ that the reform of the public RTV system was included in the coalition agreement between Trojka and HDZ.
Therefore, if the opposition has not blocked the dismissals at FTV through the Election and Appointment Committee so far, and we all know they haven't, then they should do so in the future.
Because the appointment of HDZ's Marin Vukoja to the Constitutional Court of BiH and the handover of FTV to HDZ BiH would be disastrous for the country. Better the “illegal” Džemal Šabić and Zvonimir Jukić than the legal Duška Jurišić and Zoran Krešić!
