Liter of diesel could cost over 3 KM next week

(Patria) - Energy experts in Bosnia and Herzegovina are announcing new fuel price increases as the price of a barrel of oil on world stock exchanges has exceeded 92 dollars.

"A liter of diesel could cost over three convertible marks (KM) next week,” said Almir Bečarević, an energy expert, as reported by the media.

He estimated that if the price of oil on stock exchanges reaches 100 dollars per barrel, a price of between 3.50 to 3.80 KM per liter of diesel can be expected in BiH.

The difference in diesel prices at gas stations in the Federation of BiH reaches up to 0.50 KM per liter, according to data from the Ministry of Trade of this entity.

“Retail prices of diesel fuel (BAS EN 590) currently range from 2.41 to 2.96 KM per liter, with noticeable differences between points of sale,” the Ministry announced.

They explained that these differences are the result of the application of measures to limit margins, given that stocks purchased at earlier prices are sold at old price lists, while new deliveries are formed according to current input costs.

In order to protect consumers and stabilize the market, measures to limit margins on oil derivatives remain in force in the Federation of BiH.

The price of diesel at pumps in Banja Luka ranges from 2.62 to 2.85 KM per liter.

Đorđe Savić, president of the Group for Oil and Oil Derivatives Trade at the Chamber of Commerce of Republika Srpska, emphasized that a jump in fuel prices in RS is expected in the coming days, when a liter of fuel could cost 3 KM.
