Leaders of the Quartet clear: Bogićević will be mayor of Sarajevo, Skaka is trying in vain

(Patria) - SDP President Nermin Nikšić has no doubts: Bogić Bogićević will be the mayor of Sarajevo. In an interview with Patria, he dismissed all speculation that NIP and Naša stranka, with the help of groups from the SDP, could circumvent the agreement.

"In principle, I do not comment on commissioned texts that no one signs. It is the most ordinary attempt at spin. I think that the still current mayor Abdulah Skaka, if he had even a little conscience, should be happy that his position will be taken over by a man who, unlike him, is an institution in himself," Nikšić emphasized.

Director Dino Mustafić, who was mentioned as an alternative to Bogićević, was also brief and clear.

"That's nonsense," Mustafić said.

NIP President Elmedin Konaković says that the thesis about some betrayals within the "Quartet" resembles the handwriting of Mayor Skaka, who has good relations with certain media. The election results and the math based on them are relentless, Konaković believes.

"Unlike the math of Asim Sarajlić and Osman Mehmedagić's 'Eight', which is based on arm-twisting, ours is based on election results. The 'Quartet' has two and a half times more elected councilors than the SDA, and our agreement is firm. Bogić Bogićević will be the mayor of Sarajevo, and very soon," Konaković said.

President of Naša stranka, Predrag Kojović, still says he stands by his claims that he will be the happiest man if Bogićević becomes mayor of Sarajevo.

Patria has previously stated that the "Quartet," and especially the SDP, must not allow the credibility of Bogić Bogićević to be brought into question by "collecting hands" for his election. The SDP president claims there will be no "defectors" within the "Quartet."

"Unlike Skaka, who degrades the function of mayor, the election of Bogić Bogićević gives great significance to that institution, as well as to the City of Sarajevo as a center of political events in BiH. Every reasonable person will support his election, and now I can say that I believe a significant number of city councilors who are not part of the 'Quartet' will also vote for Bogićević," Nikšić said.

The constitution of the Sarajevo City Council is yet to come. It is up to the leaders of the "Quartet" to prove their principledness, despite the appetites that certainly exist, primarily in terms of the position of the president of the city council, for which, at least for now, Jasmin Ademović from NIP is a candidate.
