Bosniak Leaders and the General Director of Bosniaks

One public acknowledgment has caused quite a stir in the public. Dr. Ismet Gravrankapetanović stated that he went to Reis Husein ef. Kavazović to consult and seek help regarding problems with the University Clinical Center Sarajevo (KCUS) and the way it is managed by director Sebija Izetbegović. Reis Kavazović sent him "around," to the Bosniak member of the Presidency, Bakir Izetbegović. When Gavrankapetanović finished his conversation with Izetbegović, he sent him back to KCUS. He sent him "around" to his wife, Sebija.

When Gavrankapetanović reached Sebija and complained about the situation at the institution, he was punished and almost faced dismissal from his job.

Therefore, the Bosniak religious and political hierarchy has serious problems in its functioning. The accuser is also the judge. It all began the moment Sebija Izetbegović took the position of director of the largest medical institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina, thereby violating the Law on Conflict of Interest in Public Office in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is a real dilemma whether Sebija Izetbegović would ever have reached the position of KCUS director if she were not the wife of the top Bosniak leader.

This ordeal of Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović has revealed an unsolvable relationship within the Bosniak religious-political elite. Dr. Gavrankapetanović is someone of significance in this country and even abroad. He is a doctor who is respected by the citizens. What would have happened if it were an ordinary person? If Dr. Gavrankapetanović complained to the religious leader, and the latter, along with the complaint, sent him to the political leader, then it is not passing the buck, but showing helplessness in the face of an absurd situation. The Reis probably realized what it would mean if he stood against the wife of the political leader. If it were only the political leader, perhaps the Reis would have reacted differently, but this involves the supreme marital partner of the supreme leader.

Therefore, this is an unsolvable enigma. State or marriage? Marriage or state? It seems to be a state marriage.      

Only when the political leader Izetbegović sent Gavrankapetanović to his wife did it become clear that the ruling marriage among Bosniaks functions as a state organ, and the state as a marital interest. Who can someone like Dr. Gavrankapetanović actually rely on in a situation like this, someone who wants to point out that there are too many problems at KCUS in terms of management, the departure of young doctors, mobbing, and quality patient treatment? Whom will Gavrankapetanović turn to for advice or help if not the religious and political leader of his people? And if these leaders confirm that they are powerless against Dr. Sebija Izetbegović, then one should truly expect her top political engagement and, as is already being discussed, a candidacy for the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Regardless of the bizarre reasons that decided in this launching of Dr. Gavrankapetanović, for ordinary people, this represents the undermining of religious and political authority among Bosniaks and an evident display of powerlessness before the "supreme" wife among Bosniaks.

For such reasons, the wives of statesmen in the civilized world engage in humanitarian work, address the existence and problems of ordinary people, and support culture and science during their mandates. This way, we have the Bosniak member of the Presidency and his general director.     

Does a hierarchy exist in this country, or are the paths to the top of power blocked by various obstacles? Such obstacles in an undemocratic world are called "grey eminences." Therefore, we have a religious and political leader, but they give up and retreat before the power of the "marital grey eminence." Does this mean that the religious and political authority of Bosniaks has been nullified by this act?

So, this is what happens when we have a conflict of interest in public office and political unity in marriage.
