Lendo: Serbia is the biggest destabilising factor in the region, the international community must react

(Patria) - The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, by attending the celebration in Banja Luka confirms he is a threat to peace and stability in Europe, believes the Vice President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Refik Lendo.

- Attempts by the political leadership of the Republic of Serbia to achieve the great-state goals of Serbian national policy through the implementation of one of the conclusions of the Declaration of the so-called All-Serbian Assembly - the celebration of the Orthodox feast of Sretenje, which is the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia as a "day of statehood" of the entity of the Republika Srpska, represent a direct assault on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a gross violation of the Dayton Agreement - warns Lendo.

Contrary to declarative claims that he respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, states Lendo in his reaction, the President of Serbia will prove that he is pursuing a policy that is a direct threat to peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region, and all of Europe.

- By acting in this way, he confirms that the Declaration of the so-called All-Serbian Assembly is, in fact, his true political will and intention towards the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The institutions of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina are obliged to provide a strong response and use all legal and political means with the aim of defending the territorial integrity, political sovereignty, and Euro-Atlantic future of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Instead of dealing with internal political conflicts and positioning ahead of the next elections, representatives of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina should subordinate all their capacities to informing decision-makers among the signatories of the Dayton Agreement, members and institutions of the European Union and NATO about the aggressive policy that the government of the Republic of Serbia is pursuing towards Bosnia and Herzegovina, attempting to appropriate part of its territory.

It is necessary to request from the European Union that a special cluster be built into the negotiation framework for the Republic of Serbia, whereby further progress and eventual full membership of that state in the European Union will be conditioned on the withdrawal of the Declaration of the so-called All-Serbian Assembly, the acceptance and entry into criminal records of all final judgments of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia against citizens of Serbia, and the prosecution of the accused and sending them to serve prison sentences of convicted war criminals who freely live in the Republic of Serbia.

Without accepting the facts and ceasing to pursue a policy manifested by territorial pretensions towards Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia will remain the biggest destabilising factor in the region. If the international community does not stop this policy, its harmful consequences could be unforeseeable", added Lendo.
