(Patria) - FBiH Vice President Refik Lendo sent congratulations to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of March 1st, Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Lendo emphasized that March 1st is one of the most important dates in the thousand-year history of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"32 years ago - on February 29th and March 1st, 1992, a large majority of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina chose the independence of our homeland with their vote in the referendum.
With that act, we turned a new page in our history, restoring the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina after several centuries under foreign rule.
The referendum question contained on the ballots reflected the will and vision of the policy on which the idea of an independent, sovereign, and internationally recognized Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina was built.
However, it is also the foundation of the policy of a European Bosnia and Herzegovina, a civic state in which every individual will be equal before the law and in which every citizen's vote will have the same value.
We continue the struggle on the path to that goal. The upcoming holiday and all that we have been through in the past 32 years can serve as an incentive for us to approach that struggle even more strongly and persistently.
In that spirit, I once again congratulate all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially the members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the families of martyrs and fallen soldiers, on March 1st, Independence Day of our homeland," Lendo said in his congratulatory message.
