Lendo: "Kovačević" ruling must be implemented without delay!

(Patria) - The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, with its ruling in the "Kovačević" case, has once again confirmed the legal basis and human correctness of our commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina as a civic state of all its peoples and citizens, based on civilizational values, free from all forms of discrimination, and relying on the rule of law, stated Refik Lendo, Vice President of the FBiH.

"The content of this ruling aligns with the standards of the European Union acquis to which we aspire, the legal rules and human standards of the democratic world to which we belong, and it dismisses all discriminatory provisions and discriminatory proposals of civilizational darkness against which we are fighting.

The European Court of Human Rights, in the "Kovačević" ruling, as well as in other rulings from the group of cases "Sejdić and Finci," has determined that various forms of discrimination exist in Bosnia and Herzegovina, that they are unacceptable, and that Bosnia and Herzegovina must be freed from them.

The legal and political weight of the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights is significant. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms is directly applied and takes precedence over all other legal regulations, the weight of the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights is even greater.

The "Kovačević" ruling must be implemented without delay. Through its implementation, along with other rulings from the group of cases "Sejdić and Finci," all forms of discrimination in Bosnia and Herzegovina determined by the European Court of Human Rights should be eliminated, so that Bosnia and Herzegovina can join the family of democratic societies of the rule of law and equal treatment before the law to its full capacity," Lendo states.
