Lendo criticized the FBiH Government: They are leading us into long-term debt slavery, the fight for power is more important to them than the citizens' interests

(Patria) - FBiH Vice President Refik Lendo was a guest today on the show "Špica" Televizija Sarajevo, where he analyzed the current economic and political situation in the larger BiH entity.

Lendo presented serious criticism of the current FBiH Government, accusing it of non-transparent spending of funds and leading the entity into long-term debt slavery.

Commenting on the initiatives to reduce excise duties and tariffs on petroleum products, he emphasized that citizens are victims of political games.

Although certain proposals have been sent to the Council of Ministers of BiH, Lendo believes that nothing will come of it.

- These proposals from the FBiH Government are good for the ears, so that citizens hear that tariffs will be reduced, but nothing will come of it. The Council of Ministers of BiH has already decided not to accommodate the citizens.

Unfortunately, people have to fight prices of diesel fuel, which are close to four marks, on their own, which in turn causes price increases for all other goods and services - said Lendo.

When asked if politicians are listening to the most vulnerable categories, such as pensioners and workers, the FBiH Vice President was clear - the focus is solely on the 2026 elections.

He cited the lack of analysis as one of the problems, given that institutions are dealing with local and party politics instead of in-depth problem analysis.

He also pointed out that many parliamentarians are not independent in making decisions that are in the interest of citizens, and that most parties have already entered the campaign, putting the fight for power ahead of the fight against inflation.

Lendo specifically addressed the financial stability of FBiH, criticizing the new borrowing of KM 50 million from commercial banks to service internal debt.

- The government is behaving like an irresponsible host who takes out a loan to cover current expenses or buy a car, without any analysis. The budget of KM 8.9 billion is consumptive, debt-driven, and pre-election - he assessed.

He warned that funds are not being directed towards production, railways, or roads to Bihać and Tuzla, but towards public spending to "appease citizens" before the elections.

- They are leading us into a period where future generations, for at least two terms after 2026, will have to repay these debts.

Engaging in public spending through long-term loans is the worst economic option and a complete failure for FBiH - concluded the FBiH Vice President.
