(Patria) - At the first session of ZAVNOBiH in Mrkonjić Grad on November 25, 1943, Bosnia and Herzegovina was defined as a state of all its citizens and equal peoples. Its historical borders, dating back to the medieval Bosnian period, were confirmed, stated the Vice President of the Federation of BiH, Refik Lendo, in his congratulatory message on the occasion of the Statehood Day of BiH.
"The decisions made at that time had a profound impact on shaping modern Bosnian-Herzegovinian statehood. The confirmation of the equality of peoples and citizens, as well as the preservation of common values of togetherness, tolerance, and multiculturalism, became the foundations on which contemporary Bosnia and Herzegovina is built. These values and principles oblige all of us today, as they represent the basis for building a democratic, stable, and prosperous state in which all peoples and citizens have an equal place.
November 25 is a day when we remember and pay tribute to all our fighters who gave their lives for the freedom of our Homeland, as well as for our better future. It is also a day when we recall the common resistance to fascism and divisions, and the efforts we made to preserve our state identity and sovereignty.
May this memory be our guide on the basis of which we will jointly build the future of our Homeland.
Wishing us to persevere on that path, I congratulate all citizens on November 25, the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina," Lendo stated.
