Lejla Tanović sixth at UCI C1 race in Spain

(Patria) - BiH's top female cyclist Lejla Tanović and competitor of the professional Brujula Bike Racing Team won sixth place at the XCO Chelva race held in Spain. The race was UCI C1 category and with this placement, our competitor earned 18 new UCI points for the world ranking list and Olympic ranking standard.

The victory at one of the strongest races in Spain was taken by Annie Last, representative of Great Britain and last year's World Cup winner in Lenzerheide. After a very good start, Tanović placed seventh, and two laps before the finish, she took sixth place, which she held until the finish line.

“We knew that the start of the race would be very important, so we prepared for it specifically, and it proved very useful considering that after the start, a technical part of the track followed, where congestion can occur due to the large number of competitors. Throughout the race, I felt strong, and on the climbs, I rode my own pace and gained an advantage. I am extremely happy with the result and my form this early in the season, as well as with the UCI points earned,” said Lejla Tanović.

After the race in Spain, our competitor expects the final training block before the start of the main part of the season, which begins at the end of March, while the first World Cup is expected in mid-May.

“I am very satisfied with the result, but we expected a good placement considering that Lejla is in good form and that the track in Chelva was technically demanding on climbs and descents, which certainly suits her. In addition to the large number of UCI points we collected, these results will be a great motivation before the new training block, where we will prepare for the main part of the season,” said the selector of the MTB national team, Amar Njemčević.
