Lejla Tanović opens the season with a stage race in Spain

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Ten-time national champion and three-time Balkan champion Lejla Tanović, a competitor for the professional Brujula Bike Racing Team, is starting the season in Spain at the UCI S2 Costa Blanca stage race. Lejla will compete in the race paired with Spanish rider Rocio Del Alba Garcia Martinez, who competes for the professional BH Templo team. The race will be held over four stages, approximately sixty kilometers per day, on demanding technical terrain, with pairs not allowed to be more than two minutes apart during the race. As this is a UCI race, competitors are vying for points that contribute to Olympic qualification and advancement on the world rankings.

"Racing in pairs is a completely new experience for Lejla, however, we expect very good cooperation with the Spanish competitor and I believe they can help each other during the four days of racing. Even though Lejla has never started the season this early before, this race will be very good preparation and training for the most important races that await us during this season," said national team coach Amar Njemčević.

After the stage race, Lejla will continue with a winter training camp, while the next race for our competitor will be an HC category event at the end of February in Banyoles, Spain.
