Lejla Tanović makes historic progress for BiH on world rankings

(Patria) - The most successful BiH cyclist and 14-time national champion Lejla Tanović has made historic progress on the UCI list for Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as a personal record by entering the top 50 cyclists in the world. After the last points update, Tanović has advanced 25 positions and now holds 46th place on the World Cycling Ranking list. The four-time Balkan champion has also recorded progress on the UCI Marathon Series world ranking list, where she secured 47th place among all female cyclists in the world after strong performances in marathon races.

“We knew I could enter the top 50 best in the world, and that was one of our goals for this season. Throughout last season, I achieved good results, and that is one of the reasons for my progress on the UCI list. Breaking the barrier we have been aiming for for a long time and placing in the top 50 will be great motivation for the final preparations before the World Championship, where I will give my all to achieve a top result,” said Lejla Tanović.

Lejla Tanović is the first cyclist from BiH to enter the top 100 best in the world from BiH, and now she is also the first cyclist to break the barrier and enter the top 50 best in the world in two different disciplines.

“Lejla has shown potential with her results for several seasons now to enter the elite circle of cyclists. We are more than satisfied with the form shown this season and her 46th place. Another indicator of her form is her unplanned participation in marathon races, where she achieved excellent results and secured 47th place on the World Ranking list in the marathon discipline. Three major competitions remain until the end of this season, where we will aim for the highest podiums,” said national team coach Amar Njemčević at the end.
