Lazović called on citizens to support Principles for Amending the BiH Constitution

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Miro Lazović, President of the Forum of 1990 Parliamentarians of BiH, sent an open appeal to the citizens of BiH regarding the Principles for Amending the BiH Constitution. 

"Dear citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina from all constituent peoples and national minorities,

Less than a month ago, civil society organizations the Congress of Bosniak Intellectuals, the Croatian National Council, the Serb Civic Council, and the Forum of 1990 Parliamentarians of BiH agreed on the Principles for Amending the BiH Constitution and offered the application www.izmjeneustava.com through which we invited the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to express their support. To date, we have received support from over 27,500 citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, from both entities, Brčko District, the diaspora, from all constituent peoples, national minorities, and various political parties. Our goal is to have the support of at least 100,000 citizens of BiH.

As a person with rich political experience whose political destiny is tied to my Homeland, and who has no other or reserve country besides beloved Bosnia and Herzegovina, I call on you to give even stronger support to our agreed Principles, which are based on the judgments of international and domestic courts, and the opinion of the Venice Commission from 2005, via the web application www.izmjeneustava.com

Your support is essential to us because the voice of BiH citizens, regardless of which constituent people or national minority they come from, is not heard, it is quiet, and today it is needed almost as much as on March 1, 1992, when the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the first and so far only time, had a say in the fate of their Homeland, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Your voice will strengthen the role of our organizations in meetings we have with domestic and international officials.

Our organizations need support because we want the Principles for Amending the BiH Constitution, which quite clearly place the human-citizen at the focus, following the example of all democratic European countries, and also offer solutions to ethnic (national) issues, to be the basis for all political representatives in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, as well as representatives of the international community, for all future negotiations on amending the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Principles for Amending the BiH Constitution are an international legal obligation and the only alternative for a better future for us and our descendants in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
