Lasić and Swierczek: Polish freight wagons offered to Railways of FBiH

Federal Minister of Transport and Communications Denis Lasić held a meeting today at the headquarters of the Government of the Federation of BiH in Sarajevo with representatives of Europejskie Konsorcium Kolejowe Wagon (EKK Wagon), a Polish company that has been producing rail vehicles for ninety years and selling them to countries in Europe, Africa, and Asia, reports the Patria News Agency.

At the meeting, Bartosz Swierczek, the company's director, presented Minister Lasić with an offer of freight wagons that could meet the needs of the Public Enterprise Railways of the Federation of BiH, as well as the possibilities of financing the wagon purchase agreement through an intergovernmental loan from the Government of the Republic of Poland.

 -The Government of the Federation of BiH, through the activities of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Communications, and guided by the expressed needs of the Public Enterprise Railways of the Federation of BiH and their assessment of the lack of mobile capacity for freight transport, will undertake further actions and contacts with EKK Wagon. It is important that we have a good interlocutor because railways are the lifeblood of a country's economy, and the ministry I head will support every activity aimed at improving rail transport,  said Minister Lasić, thanking them for their visit and the offered cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Enis Džafić – acting director of JP Railways of FBiH and Mr. Ismet Demirović – Assistant Minister for Rail Transport.

Intensive contacts are planned in the coming days to consider cooperation possibilities, it was announced from the relevant ministry.
