Lagumdžija: This concerns all of us, because mines are a problem

Zlatko Lagumdžija, Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, addressed the public on social networks wearing a t-shirt with an application that warns about the dangers of mines, writes the Patria news agency.

- On the anniversary of the entry into force of the Convention on Cluster Munitions, we should all unite on the project of the Mine Survivors Initiative "Bosnia and Herzegovina without Mines and Cluster Munitions". During the recently held Donor Conference in Brussels, some countries specifically donated funds for marking and demining minefields that were activated by the catastrophic floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina, for which I sincerely thank them. This concerns all of us because... Mines are a problem - wrote Lagumdžija.

Otherwise, the soil of Bosnia and Herzegovina is "contaminated" with mines from the war in 1992-1995, with a large area remaining under minefields. According to BHMAC data, approximately 100,000 people live in high-risk areas, and 600,000 in medium-risk areas.

According to estimates, the "suspicious area" in Bosnia and Herzegovina is 3.29 percent.
