(Patria) - A debate on Bosnia and Herzegovina initiated by the Russian Federation is underway in the UN Security Council.
High Representative in BiH Christian Schmidt and Željka Cvijanović addressed the Security Council, with Cvijanović, according to Security Council rules, unable to speak in her capacity as a member of the BiH Presidency, but rather in a personal capacity as a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Cvijanović spoke at Russia's invitation, and as such, her speech is to be considered a personal opinion, without any connection to the institution or her position.
In fact, the only representative of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Security Council is the head of the BiH Mission to the UN, Zlatko Lagumdžija.
Given what Cvijanović said while speaking from the position of a member of the BiH Presidency, we can say that she knowingly violated the rules of the Security Council in an attempt to highlight a one-sided political view from the RS, even though many in the subsequent discussion characterized the actions of politicians from the RS, led by Dodik, as problematic.
