Lagumdžija: I voted for Čabrajić, no one from politics pressured me

(Patria) - President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of BiH Halil Lagumdžija stated today in Sarajevo that he personally voted for Hrvoje Čabrajić, who was appointed today as special deputy chief federal prosecutor of the Federal Prosecutor's Office of FBiH, or rather, head of the Special Department of the Federal Prosecutor's Office for Combating Corruption, Organized and Inter-cantonal Crime.

Lagumdžija told reporters during a break in the HJPC session that he was swayed by the fact that this candidate had significant leadership experience, given that over the past four years, as head of a department in the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, he supervised all indictments for complex criminal offenses that went to the Sarajevo Cantonal Court.

He stated that Čabrajić was elected with 10 votes 'for' and two 'against', and that the HJPC did not have to consider the candidate's national affiliation when appointing him to this position.

Lagumdžija explained that Čabrajić was the third-ranked candidate by points, and that no one from politics pressured him to vote for any candidate, nor did any member of the HJPC report anything similar to him.

"He will face great challenges, but I believe Čabrajić will be able to meet those challenges," Lagumdžija said.

The other two candidates for this position were prosecutor from Brčko Pavo Radoš and prosecutor from the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office Samir Selimović.
