(Patria) - After a period of elevated pollution, air quality is gradually improving. Measurements show that concentrations of harmful particles in the air are decreasing, and favourable weather conditions in the coming days will also benefit air circulation in the Sarajevo basin.
According to the long-term meteorological forecast, as stated by the Expert Body of the Sarajevo Canton, this situation will last until the end of the month. Rain with light wind and no inversion is expected from this evening.
"Based on current meteorological data, no inversion is forecast until the end of November. A northern wind with speeds of 1 to 3 m/s will dominate, with occasional maximum gusts of up to 10 m/s, especially during Sunday. Rain, sleet and snow are expected until Saturday, followed by more stable weather conditions with cloudy weather. The presence of northern wind and the absence of inversion will contribute to better air circulation and reduce the possibility of pollution remaining in the lower layers of the atmosphere," the Expert Body stated.
Although an improvement in air quality is recorded, particle concentrations in the air still do not meet the conditions for lifting the "Warning" in the Sarajevo Canton. The Expert Body continuously monitors the situation and will react in a timely manner and submit a proposal to the Ministry for lifting this episode from the Plan of Emergency Measures in Cases of Excessive Air Pollution.
