SBiH Cantonal Board: We call on the SDA Novi Grad Municipal Board not to hide behind the story of alleged pre-election agreements, they were playing with the Three anyway

(Patria) - The agreement on the joint appearance of SBiH, SDA, and DF in the municipalities of Sarajevo Canton did not include positions in the municipal councils, as claimed by SDA Novi Grad, the Cantonal Board (KV) of SBiH Sarajevo announced this evening.

"Talks were held at the cantonal organization level of the three parties, and what was agreed upon was initialed on June 12, 2024, between the three presidents - Almir Bečarević, Faruk Kapidžić, and Albin Zuhrić, and we are publishing that document exclusively because of the attempt at manipulation by one of the municipal organizations, which, in any case, did not adhere to the agreement reached.



The agreement reached was also presented at a joint press conference held at the 'Bristol' hotel.

Regardless of the above and the fact that we received 5,000 more votes for the Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipal Council, we were prepared to support the SDA candidate for the position of Council President, on the condition that the candidate's name be agreed upon.

The same was done, and there was an agreement at the cantonal organization level of the parties that Azra Čomor from SDA would be elected President of the Municipal Council, and that Nezir Hadžić would be one of the deputy presidents of the Council.

However, the municipal organization of SDA Novi Grad, following its already established coalition with the parties of the Three, scheduled a session of the Municipal Council and attempted to elect the President of the Municipal Council, Haris Alihodžić, which was also shown by the voting results, as candidate Haris Alihodžić received 14 votes, even though SDA has only 7 council mandates.

In the end, the plan failed because it is evident that not all council members of the Three respected the request to elect the President of the Municipal Council from SDA.

We call on the Municipal Organization of SDA not to try to hide behind the story of alleged pre-election agreements, in which they neither participated nor adhered to them, and they disrupted the reached agreement with their public appearances and statements during the campaign.

Their cooperation with the parties of the Three is more than obvious, and that is precisely why it mattered which of the candidates from the SDA club could be nominated for the position of President of the Municipal Council.

Furthermore, the fact that there was no agreement on positions in the municipal councils is confirmed by the fact that in Hadžići, SDA, despite having 4 SBiH council members, formed a majority and elected the leadership of the Municipal Council, leaving the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina in opposition, to which we did not react particularly, respecting everyone's right to choose partners with whom they will cooperate," announced the president of KV SBiH Sarajevo, Almir Bečarević, this evening.
