CORNER FOR THOSE OVER 60 YEARS OLD Healthy Aging Center in Hrasnica

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Organized by the Municipality of Ilidža on September 21, 2020, the Healthy Aging Center was opened at Trg hrasničkog bataljona bb street. This center will be a day center intended for people of the third age, with the aim of activating them and enabling healthy, both mental and physical, aging. The project was entirely led by the Municipality of Ilidža, with the support of donors.

The opening of the center was officially marked by cutting the ribbon by Sejdefa Bašić, director of the Partnership for Public Health Association, and the Mayor of Ilidža Municipality, Prof. Dr. Senaid Memić.

Sejdefa Bašić informed those present about the partnership's work, emphasizing satisfaction with the implementation of the center in Ilidža as well.

"This project has made many elderly people happy, and it is slowly spreading throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. Countries in the region have recognized Sarajevo, and we are very proud of that," added Sejdefa Bašić.

Mayor Memić announced the opening of another center in Pejton.

"The third age is the most sensitive part of life. Elderly people today belong to the most vulnerable category. Problems faced by the elderly population include low monthly incomes, increased living costs, and impaired health. I wish the users of the center, where various types of education, workshops, promotions, and thematic gatherings will be organized in the future, a pleasant stay and many beautiful moments," said Mayor Memić.

Project coordinator, representative of the Municipality, Emina Berilo Idrizović, emphasized that this center will focus on improving the health and quality of life of people of the third age.

"They say that a society's humanity is measured by its treatment of the elderly. Guided by this belief, the Municipality of Ilidža has been intensively working on the project of establishing the Healthy Aging Center in recent months. And we could not have fulfilled our mission without the support of Mayor Prof. Dr. Senaid Memić, as well as without the donors Ećo Company, Hotel Hills and Hollywood, Beko, BK Linea, who know what it means to be with the community. All persons aged 60 and over can register as users of the Center. The monthly membership fee is 5 KM, and in addition to using the facilities, they will be entitled to hot drinks (coffee, tea) and newspapers," said Emina Berilo-Idrizović.
