Kurti with Komšić and Bećirović: How to implement the agreement on freedom of movement with ID cards

(Patria) - Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti met on the sidelines of the International Humanitarian Conference for Gaza in Paris with the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić and member of the Presidency Denis Bećirović. Kurti thanked Komšić and Bećirović for the productive meeting.

“We discussed the importance of full implementation of the Berlin Process agreements, especially on free movement with ID cards, and explored further cooperation,” Kurti wrote on social network X.

Kurti said in early October that it was regrettable that Bosnia and Herzegovina had not ratified the agreement on movement with only ID cards, reached a year ago in Berlin between the countries of the Western Balkans.

He then stated that from January 2024, Kosovo citizens will be able to move freely to European Union countries, but it is still uncertain when they will be able to travel without visas to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bosnia and Herzegovina, apart from Serbia, is the only country in the region that does not recognize Kosovo's independence and the only country in the region that has a visa regime with Kosovo.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, during her visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina last week, clearly emphasized that all agreements from the Berlin Process must be implemented.
