Kurtćehajić: Sutorina belongs to BiH, and whoever signs otherwise is a traitor to the state!

At today's session of the BiH Presidency, the agenda also included the item Proposal of the decision on initiating the procedure for conducting negotiations for the conclusion of: The State Border Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, writes Patria.

However, professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo, Suad Kurtćehajić, warns that any signature on this would be treason to the people of BiH. Kurtćehajić supports this claim with scientific evidence that Sutorina actually belongs to BiH.

- Only in 1948 did the first maps appear that depicted Sutorina within Montenegro, and that was after an informal conversation between Đuro Pucar Stari and Montenegrin politician Blažo Jovanović. For centuries, Sutorina has been depicted on maps as Bosnia's access to the open sea. I see no argument for our politicians to give Montenegro something that even Montenegrins know is not theirs. We should maintain good neighborly relations with Montenegro, but seek international arbitration on the issue of Sutorina, and the evidence is on BiH's side. There is no reason for us to give what is ours to satisfy Montenegro – Kurtćehajić told Patria.

He noted that Bishop Grigorije also fought for this two years ago when he found out, and now the institutions of BiH and the smaller BiH entity must do everything to reclaim what belongs to BiH.

- I fear some deals, things under the table. I fear how our politicians operate. I fear that the people signing are not corrupt. What does it take for a state to corrupt a politician who solves his own problems, and he puts his signature and brings misfortune to the entire state and people. So, to be direct, I have to say it. Therefore, whoever signs that document should consider that possibility. Because I don't see how to give something for nothing. Montenegro should also understand that we have forgiven them for the entire period of policies that cost BiH dearly and that we have managed to overcome it, but that does not mean that we should now give something that undoubtedly belongs to BiH and something that Montenegro has been enjoying completely unjustly until now – says Kurtćehajić.

Emphasizing that Sutorina is the most important strategic situation for BiH, as it is practically the only access to the open sea.

- I don't know what the interests are, but for me, this is a great act of betrayal, and worst of all, if there is some financial motive behind it. That would be terrible. Look, you know what it means for Montenegro if its owner signs that it is part of Montenegro. This is such an important matter that it must go for verification before the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH. But, so far, no one has signed anything, so it is madness to make a signature – Kurtćehajić added.

He further notes that there are documents in the Dubrovnik and Viennese archives, and that the International Court cannot resolve the issue otherwise than by giving BiH what is hers.

- We will not quarrel with Montenegro, but we will wait for international arbitration to review everything and see the truth. We just need not to sign – Kurtćehajić added.
