Kurtalić: We are going through hell, and no one will help us!

Hasena Kurtalić from Sarajevo has been a victim of virtual violence for a long time. Namely, an offensive profile was created with her name on the Facebook social network, on which she is presented as a prostitute.

The virtual friends on that profile are children from the Sarajevo Elementary School “Isak Samokovlija”, which her 14-year-old son also attends, so she suspects that the controversial profile was created by one of his peers to harm him.

- I feel very bad. My family and I are going through hell. It is especially difficult for my son Armin, because children laugh at him because of that profile – Hasena told the Patria News Agency (NAP).

Kurtalić sought help from the school principal Kenan Vučijak, and from the Federal Police Administration. However, she says, help was lacking from both sides. She only received support from a few parents whose children go to the same class as her son.

- Police inspector Alen Mašić told me that he could not help. They told me the same thing at the school – explains Hasena, adding that this did not discourage her, and that she will use all legal means to find the person who created the controversial profile with her name and photo.

- This is no longer just about my child and me. My family and I will overcome this. But what about the other children? Tomorrow, someone else will be targeted. Someone must tell these hooligans that they cannot behave as they please – says Hasena.

The principal of the Elementary School “Isak Samokovlija”, Kenan Vučijak, told NAP that he is aware of Hasena Kurtalić's case, but that he cannot do anything about it.

- We talked to the children from our school and their parents. But that is all we can do. The internet and Facebook are private matters. Parents are the ones who must take care of what their children do and write on social networks – said Vučijak.
