Kurban-Bajram on Friday at 5:43 AM

(Patria) - According to the Calendar of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the first day of Kurban-Bajram is on Friday, June 6, 2025.

The Bayram prayer is at 5:43 AM.

The central Bayram celebration of the Riasat of the Islamic Community will be held at the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque in Sarajevo, where the Bayram sermon will be delivered by the reisu-l-ulema Husein-ef. Kavazović.

After the morning prayer, which will be performed starting at 4:30 AM, a ceremonial program will be held, performed by renowned reciters of the Quran, ilahijas, and qasidas.

A relevant sermon on this occasion will be delivered by the director of the Gazi Husrev-beg Madrasa, Mr. Dževad Pleh.

BHT1 and BIR television will broadcast the central Bayram celebration live.

On the first day, the reisu-l-ulema organizes the traditional Bayram greetings, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at the Administrative Building of the Riasat of the Islamic Community in Kovači. On the same day, the traditional Bayram reception of the reisu-l-ulema for guests will be held, starting at 7:00 PM.

The significance of Kurban-Bajram, or Hadži-Bajram, is determined by the worship of sacrificing a kurban and distributing its meat to the poor, friends, and neighbors, as well as the worship of Hajj, when several million Muslims stay in Mecca on specific days. Among them this year are 2,222 citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Kurban-Bajram lasts for four days.
