Kupusović warns: Fountains will dry up in Sarajevo

The FONDEKO Association, together with the Aarhus Center BiH Association, is organizing a gathering on October 27 at 1 PM, prompted by concern that Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, will in the near future run out of drinking water, FONDEKO warns, reports the Patria News Agency.

Prof. Dr. Tarik Kupusović, director of the Institute for Hydrotechnology at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Sarajevo, will publicly share his findings regarding this problem, and the discussion will also cover what needs to be done to prevent the fountains from drying up.

In the popular science magazine about nature, man, and ecology, Fondeko svijet (December 2013), the respected expert, one of the former mayors of this city, Prof. Dr. Tarik Kupusović, stated in an article titled "Will the fountains dry up in Sarajevo" that "they will, and at the latest in two to three years.".

Almost two years have passed since this was warned about, and nothing has been done to prevent it. The long-lasting water restrictions, day and night, are also evidence of the diminishing water supply.

Worst of all, the public is completely unaware of the impending scenario, and therefore has not influenced the authorities in recent months to devise and undertake urgent measures, the statement reads.
