KUKIĆ'S FAVOURITE AND SUCCESSOR Elzina Pirić at the Helm of PDA

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Elzina Pirić has been elected as the new president of the Movement for Democratic Action (PDA) after Mirsad Kukić resigned from the position due to US sanctions.

Under the threat from coalition partners that they would bring down the government in the Tuzla Canton, Kukić decided to resign.

The constitutive session of the PDA Main Committee was held today in Tuzla, during which party leader Mirsad Kukić submitted his resignation from the position of president, followed by the election of new leadership, Klix.ba reports.

By a unanimous decision of the Main Committee members, Elzina Pirić, otherwise his close party associate, was elected as Kukić's successor.

Kukić's resignation came after the introduction of US sanctions, i.e., a move by the State Department which justified its decision by his involvement in corrupt activities. Following this, the government in the Tuzla Canton faced possible collapse, and under pressure from coalition partners, Kukić made the decision to resign from the highest party position.
