
(Patria) - The Cantonal Civil Protection Administration has issued a Warning to legal and natural persons to undertake preventive measures for protection and rescue from floods.
"Given that the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute has provided us with a Notice of possible floods, torrents/landslides in the period from 25.11. to 26.11.2025 for the Neretva River basin area, and that according to the forecasts of the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute, rainfall is expected in the period in the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina, accompanied by strong southerly winds and a gradual increase in air temperature, which can cause snowmelt and the possible occurrence of floods in the Sarajevo Canton area, we warn all legal and natural persons to immediately take the necessary preventive measures against floods, in order to protect the health and lives of people, as well as material property, in accordance with their competences and obligations prescribed by the Law on Protection and Rescue of People and Property from Natural and Other Disasters, or to prepare adequate forces and material-technical resources for a rapid response to the announced possible floods, as this will create the conditions for a more efficient and faster response of all subjects of the protection and rescue system to the comprehensive response to potential challenges and threats from floods, and thus avoid major material damage, as well as possible injuries and human casualties", states the announcement of CUCZ KS.
They particularly appeal to the municipal civil protection services in the Sarajevo Canton area to CONTINUOUSLY SURVEY THE MOST VULNERABLE AREAS FROM FLOODS, AND TO IMMEDIATELY PUT THEIR ORGANIZED PROTECTION AND RESCUE FORCES ON ALERT, SO THAT THEY ARE READY AS FIRST RESPONSE FORCES, and to react to potentially possible floods in their municipalities in accordance with their competences and obligations, according to protection and rescue plans.
"We remind the mentioned subjects that they are obliged IMMEDIATELY - AS SOON AS they notice or become aware of any danger or occurrence that may lead to a natural or other disaster, to submit all information about it to the Cantonal Operational Center of Civil Protection at the telephone number 121, which operates continuously 24 hours a day, every day", it is stated in the announcement of CUCZ KS.
