KUCZ KS: Take preventive measures due to sudden snowmelt

(Patria) - Given that, according to weather forecasts from the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute, higher air temperatures are expected in the Sarajevo Canton area in the coming period, leading to sudden snowmelt and rising river and stream levels, as well as the possible occurrence of local floods and an increased risk of landslides and rockfalls due to soil saturation, especially in previously recorded and vulnerable areas, we warn all legal and natural persons to IMMEDIATELY, in accordance with their competencies and obligations prescribed by the Law on Protection and Rescue of People and Material Goods from Natural and Other Disasters, take the necessary preventive measures against sudden snowmelt - prepare adequate forces and material-technical resources for a rapid response to possible floods, landslides, and rockfalls, as this will create the conditions for more efficient and faster reaction by all entities of the protection and rescue system in a comprehensive response to potential challenges and threats from floods, thereby avoiding major material damage as well as possible injuries and human casualties, warn the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration of Sarajevo Canton.

They especially appeal to municipal civil protection services in the Sarajevo Canton area to CONTINUOUSLY INSPECT THE MOST VULNERABLE AREAS TO FLOODS AND IMMEDIATELY put their organized protection and rescue forces on standby, so that they are READY AS FIRST RESPONSE FORCES to react, in accordance with their competencies and obligations under protection and rescue plans, to potentially possible floods, landslides, and rockfalls in their municipalities.
