KS supported youth: 105,000 KM for 51 projects

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Nikolić, today signed contracts with recipients of funds under the Public Call for "Co-financing of projects for youth associations/non-profit organizations and projects/programs of student organizations from the Budget of Sarajevo Canton for 2021".

A total of 105,000 KM from the Budget for this year will be allocated for co-financing 51 projects focused on young people.

"Through these projects, young people's knowledge on various interesting topics from the world of science, education, healthcare, culture, programming, art, and sports will be expanded. Also, a certain number of projects directly concern and aim to improve the position of young people with developmental disabilities in Sarajevo Canton. It is essential for young people to develop various social, transferable competencies that they can develop through free activities by which they solve social problems. This creates a foundation for activism, a critical attitude towards what is happening to them, as well as an understanding of the environment in the right way, so that they can change that environment. In this context, I look forward to the realization of these projects," stated Minister Nikolić.

She emphasized that this is only one of the ways to respond institutionally to the needs and problems of young people, which are defined by the Youth Strategy of Sarajevo Canton for the period 2019-2023.

"The Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth of Sarajevo Canton will continue to actively participate and make its maximum contribution to ensuring better conditions for young people, as well as for their opportunities for progress in various aspects of life. Systemic and financial support is necessary to support their participation in public life, and therefore our goal is to increase budget funds for young people from year to year," added the minister.

Among the approved projects that received financial support, 30 are from the field of culture and sports, 12 from the field of education and science, two are from the field of social welfare, one from the domain of healthcare, two relate to activism, and four to youth safety.
