KS: Although the air is clean, the 'Preparedness' episode remains in effect

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Although the air in Sarajevo Canton is clean, the Expert Body for Coordination and Supervision of the Plan of Intervention Measures in Cases of Excessive Air Pollution in KS has proposed keeping the „Preparedness“ episode in effect in all zones of Sarajevo Canton where this plan is applied.

Measurements of concentrations of pollutants in the air in the area of Sarajevo Canton recorded a significant drop in average daily concentrations of particulate matter in the air - PM 10 , predicted for the mentioned episode of 50 µg/m 3 at all measuring points. Accordingly, the average daily values measured today until 12:00 were: Vijećnica 8, Otoka 20, Ilidža 12 and Ilijaš 26 µg/m3.

Sunny weather is forecast for the next few days, with little to moderate cloudiness, and weak wind from the south and southwest. At the same time, the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute estimates that in the
coming days a weak temperature inversion is expected, which could contribute to an increase in pollutants in the air, which is why this expert body has kept the mentioned episode in effect.

They also remind that it is necessary to continue applying all measures provided for within the „Preparedness“ episode.

In accordance with the Plan of Intervention Measures, the Expert Body will continue to continuously monitor the state of air quality and inform citizens of any possible changes.
