BLOODY RAMPAGE Thai soldier kills 12 people, holds 16 as hostages

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A Thai soldier has killed a number of people in a mass shooting in a city in the northeast of the country, AFP reports, citing police statements.

Thai portals report that at least 12 people have been killed in and around Korat, a city located northeast of Bangkok. 

Bangkok.post reports that the massacre began when the attacker stole weapons and shot his commander and two other people at the Surathampithak military camp before fleeing in a stolen Humvee. He fired at civilians along the route to the Terminal 21 shopping center in Muang district.

The same source states that special forces units were sent to the shopping center, where it is said the attacker is holding 16 people hostage on the fourth floor. 

Bangkok.post reports that the killer is Jakrapanth Thomma, and his photo has also been published.
