Boko Haram's Bloody Rampage: 150 Children and Men Killed

Nearly 150 Nigerians were killed in the latest Boko Haram attack on villages in northeastern Nigeria, witnesses to the massacre stated, reports the Patria News Agency.

Boys and men were predominantly killed while praying in mosques, but also women while preparing food at their homes. Dozens of extremists stormed three remote villages in Nigeria's northeastern Borno state last night local time, setting fire to houses in the bloodiest rampage by the extremist group since Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari came to power in May this year.

Armed attackers killed at least 97 villagers in the village of Kukawa, the hardest-hit location by Boko Haram extremists, AFP reported. AP adds that villagers in Kukawa were in several mosques praying.

They killed mostly men, said witness Abas Gava, confirmed by a high-ranking government official, while some Boko Haram fighters broke into homes and killed women and children preparing dinner. AP states that last night's attack was a "directive from the Islamic State - ISIL" for fighters to intensify attacks during the holy month of Ramadan.
